This WOC letterbox was placed 10/15/02 by fIsh and day Z.Shenandoah National ParkWhite Oak Canyon TrailRappahannock County, VA
This journey begins on Skyline Drive at mile 42.6 near Skyland. This is the parks most popular hike, boasting 6 waterfalls, a must-do for first time visitors. The trail is 5.3 miles one way (the letterbox is approximately half the way down) but can be done as a 7.3 mile circuit when joined with the Cedar Run trail.FIsh and I come to the park every year on the second weekend in October to celebrate fIsh's B'Day. It's one of our favorite hiking spots (100's to choose from). We hope you enjoy it as much as we do.Here's your clues:You're decent downhill will be pretty goodbut stead fast till you pass two bridges of steel and wood.If you come across a horse tie, you're on the right trackAnd by the time you reach the viewpoint, you're too close to turn backDown a bit further, a staircase is thereBut don't you go down it! At the top, left you will veerUnder an overturned tree that parallels the stairsIf you look real careful, you'll find me thereBut I'm not in plain view, I'm hidden you seeYou'll have to move a few rocks, if you want to find me
